2003, Doctor of Pharmacy
Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy
Dr. Hilary Tice is a Clinical Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences within the College of Pharmacy and has been a member of the Pharmacy Faculty and The University of Louisiana Monroe since 2005. She is a licensed Pharmacist in Louisiana, North Carolina and Texas. She has served the neonatal and pediatric population at the Ochsner/LSU Health Shreveport campus since 2005 and is an integral member of the healthcare team. Her teaching focus in the Pharm.D. didactic curriculum is Pediatrics, Career readiness, and Complimentary and Integrative/Alternative Medicine.
Since my career began at ULM in 2005, I have enjoyed engaging with students to help them achieve competency in our profession and be integral members of the healthcare community during their careers. My interactions continue to expand. I am currently the advisor for ULM's student Pediatric Pharmacy Association. I created, coordinate and teach the elective 'career readiness and professional success,' PHRD 5075, in hopes to provide a space where students learn about various aspects of the career landscape in pharmacy while promoting ways to integrate into the profession. This includes exploring pharmacy careers outside of residency training, building career portfolios and professional image, competing in mock ASHP & APhA competitions to demystify and encourage participation in the main organizational competitions, and exploring areas that impact well-being. I am a member of various pharmacy organizations but I have also involved myself in ULM's faculty senate. I have held every officer position in the faculty senate (secretary-elect, secretary, president-elect and president) which has opened my eyes to the importance of building strong interdisciplinary relationships, shared governance and strengthened my communication style. As a mentor for our student pharmacists, I hope to use my skills and knowledge to help mentees build skill in various areas that will help them succeed over the lifespan of their careers. My research interests are ever evolving; however, with my background mainly in pediatrics I tend to gravitate to research related to neonatology and pediatrics. Other areas of interest are: complementary and integrative medicine (CIM, previously known as CAM - complementary and alternative medicine); career development; professional advocacy; Pharmacotherapy as it relates to Neonatology & Pediatrics; and Distance and Experiential Education
